happy albus art + a sad day.

I am so sad to be an American today. I made art to cope with my feelings. If you're in the mood for a little bit of chit-chat about my sadness and some pictures of my drawing, then feel free to proceed.

(I would say the art is mostly safe for work)


Life is feeling out-of-balance today. I watched last night as my country seemed to crumble around me. We elected a terrible person and I don't even know how to express my sadness. This not only impacts me, my friends/family, and the whole of the U.S., but it unfortunately impacts the entire world. For those of you not in the U.S., I am sorry that you are having to witness this. I don't know what happened.

Okay, *deep breaths* we're gonna end my rant for now. I will now insert a picture of the drawing I did last night/this morning. (I put in two versions because I was going to scan it, but now my scanner has decided not to work. I prefer the coloring in the first image, but I altered the drawing slightly after I took that picture, which you can see in the second one).

Here we have a freckled Albus Severus Potter enjoying some lovely sexual things <3 I may be sad, but Albus is happy and that is what matters.





I never know when to finish a drawing, because I would probably keep editing it all day if you didn't take it away from me. So, I am calling it done so that I can maybe be productive today.

I am currently listening to "Wait" by M83 and some other somber music. Hope everyone is doing alright.

I'm so sorry about the election. People around the world are reeling for it and frightened about what this means for minorities, human rights, the economy, the environment...

But it's lovely that you shared your art with us today. I do love his expression so much! It's so intense, I love that he looks on the border between pleasure and pain (a favourite place to explore in fandom, heheh...)

I hope you can friend a few more people so they could see your art? Most people just browse via their friends list, it's a little different to tumblr where people search via content. You could also crosspost to comms, but I can't think of any general comms for cross posting that are not H/D related. Can you, capitu?

It's been a rough day for sure. I've not been functioning all that well. My friends, co-workers, and family are all so hurt and scared. Every single person I know has posted something sad and heartbroken on facebook. It feels like a dark day. There have been many protests nearby and it's just... bad times.

I would love more friends! I am working on trying to find people and friend them. I have been on tumblr for... god knows how many years, so I am definitely more used to that format of finding people/content. How would I go about cross-posting? I feel so clueless about everything lol.

Ah, sorry I didn't get back to reply sooner. Yes, tumblr is totally different - you can tag your work and people will find it via the tags, am I right? Here, not so much. You could find active people by browsing other people's friends feeds, so if you click on my name, then where it says "Friends" at the top, that shows you all the unlocked posts from my flist lately. Following fests is also a good way to make friends - you could read from a recent fest eg hd_fan_fair and if you liked a writer / artist there, you could friend them, or if you saw someone commenting a lot, you know they're active and you could message them and ask if it was OK to be friends.

Cross posting h/d art is easier because there are more comms for that, but non-shippy stuff or rare pairs... I don't really know. Maybe shiftylinguini or capitu would know... (I don't think tagging is working on LJ atm, which doesn't help, haha, but you could message them?)

I saw Bird's post and wanted to come over since then to say 'hello', but things kept me from it. But yeah, glad to see your gorgeous art and to have you here now.

There's not much to say about the horrible outcome of the U.S. election. It's frightening from afar. It must be so much worse for U.S. citizens who're not straight white men (as those are the only ones who seem to profit from Trump's disturbing ideas).

In terms of the election, it's been a frightening and heart-breaking few days. It really is a scary situation, and it's hard to feel safe when you know that half of the voters actually voted for someone like him. I am now extra suspicious of all straight white men I run into.
